Sun, sand and sea, a thousand ‘Robinson Crusoe’ islands, massive lagoons with different depths and infinite shades of blue and turquoise, dazzling underwater coral gardens; a perfect natural combination for the ideal tropical holiday destination. However there is more to the Maldives than just that.
Barely rising above the crystal blue waters of the Indian Ocean, the tiny white atolls and islands of the Maldives are like a delicate string of pearls laid out on a blue cloth.
Attracting the discerning sun worshipper and scuba fanatic from all over the world, the Maldives are a destination of fantastic lush resorts, uninhabited tropical islands and beautiful coral reefs that teem with life.
The Maldives are a place where you can escape totally from the outside world to an island paradise, a place where time doesn't pass, and all you need do is order the next drink from the waiter as you watch the waves lap around your feet from a palm lined beach.
The Maldives are an excellent destination year round, but the peak season is from December - April, the dry season, when the sunlight hours are longer, and there is little chance of rain. Honeymoons are popular from May- September, and many of the resorts offer incentives including free nights, and discounted rates to attract couples at that time of year.
November and April are considered to be the best months for diving in the Maldives as the waters of the Indian Ocean are clearest.
